While browsing through the channels on Nilesat, I stumbled upon several Arabic music channels and was taken aback by the level of creativity—or perhaps the lack thereof—in the industry. My hour of skimming these channels left me rather shocked:
- Vocal Talent: About 90% of the female performers seemed to lack what I consider the most essential element of a song: a nice voice.
- Cosmetic Enhancements: It appears that 90% of these female artists have undergone cosmetic enhancements, with noticeable changes to their breasts and lips.
- Production Quality: The music videos are predominantly low budget, featuring only 2-3 scenes, with the rest of the footage being repetitive shots from different angles.
- Visual Focus: Roughly 90% of the videos overtly emphasize the curves and cleavage of the female performers, likely a result of the aforementioned cosmetic enhancements.
- Lyrics: About 70% of the songs contain only three lines of actual lyrics, with the remainder being a chorus repeated several times.
- Male Performer Style: Approximately 80% of the male performers adopt a ‘hip and cool’ appearance, complete with open shirts and necklaces, regardless of their age.
- Luxury Displays: An overwhelming 90% of these male artists showcase amazing cars in their videos.
- Background Entourage: Around 60% of the male artists feature numerous attractive women in their clips.
The content of these channels seems to be highly sexualized, with an over 80% chance of eliciting sexual arousal in male teenagers.
Considering the economic downturn, rising fuel prices, and limited outdoor activities, it’s intriguing to think about the impact of these, arguably risqué, music channels on viewer behavior—especially when the population count is rising alarmingly.
And to think, rock and roll was once dubbed the devil’s music! Perhaps it’s time these channels considered an R rating for their content.
