A healthy post

Disclaimer: A few days ago, McDonald’s sweetened a delay in my order by throwing in a free coffee and apple pie. However, this post isn’t influenced by those unexpected treats.

My dietary habits shift wildly depending on my mood. I’ve oscillated from daily junk food meals to vegetarianism, to home cooking, and now, back to junk food. Here’s a rundown of the local junk food joints I frequent, with some candid insights into each.

KFC 7th Circle: This spot is within walking distance from my house. Though I love their chicken strips, the service is lacking, especially after 8 p.m., when it’s hard to find a manager. The staff often don’t wear gloves, which I find unsettling.

KFC Sweifieh: There are similar issues here, but the drive-thru offers a glimpse into the dirty kitchen floors and the staff’s unprofessional behavior. I’ve often been tempted to expose them online.

Hardee’s Sweifieh: It’s a surefire way to gain weight, but I love their food. Ordering via speaker/mic is cool, though service can be slow. The staff are friendly here.

Hardee’s Madinah Monawara: This place offers quicker service, but they often get my order wrong. I always double-check before leaving.

Burger King Sweifieh: The drive-thru is efficient, but I find Burger King overpriced compared to McDonald’s. However, their fries are a guilty pleasure.

Burger King Madinah Monawara: Same as above, but the cashiers never seem to have change for a 10 JD bill.

Popeyes Sweifieh: The cookies and fries are winners, but the senior staff can be condescending, though the kitchen crew is efficient but noisy.

Popeyes Madinah Monawara: I’ve only visited once, so no solid opinions yet.

McDonald’s Mojama3 Jaber: This place sets the gold standard in fast food: friendly, timely, and clean. Although their food isn’t my favourite, the overall experience is top-notch.

McDonald’s Sweifieh: Consistently excellent, just like the Mojama3 Jaber branch.

Pizza Hut (all branches): This is a hard pass for me. Their pizza is too oily and disagrees with my stomach.

Domino’s Pizza: The cheesy bread is delicious, but for pizza, I prefer the Italian variety.

Why this topic? It’s 12:30 AM, I’m hungry, my fridge is so empty that even the spiders have moved out, and I found myself at McDonald’s at 2:00 AM for a ‘healthy’ breakfast.

For the curious, my last weigh-in put me at 67 kg—boots and all—at the Safeway 7th circle scale.
